  • 1/2 cup Heavy cream For creaminess.
  • 1 teaspoon Sea salt Adjust to taste.

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in vanilla extract.
  • In another bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.
  • For the salted caramel sauce, place granulated sugar in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Stir constantly until melted and golden brown. Add butter and stir until melted.
  • Slowly pour in heavy cream while stirring continuously. Add sea salt and adjust to taste. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  • Grease a 9x13-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper. Pour half of the brownie batter into the pan, then drizzle half of the salted caramel sauce over it.
  • Pour the remaining brownie batter on top, then drizzle the rest of the caramel sauce. Use a knife to swirl the caramel into the brownie batter.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes, until the edges are set and the center is slightly soft. A toothpick inserted should come out with a few moist crumbs.
  • Let the bars cool completely in the pan on a wire rack for about an hour. Cut into squares or rectangles and serve.

Notes

These bars can be made gluten-free by substituting the all-purpose flour with a gluten-free flour blend. For a vegan version, replace eggs with flax eggs and use plant-based butter.
