  • 1 pound Sausage Choose your favorite type, such as Italian, smoked, or chicken sausage.
  • 1 cup Rice White rice works best, but brown rice can be used for a healthier option.
  • 2 cups Chicken broth Adds flavor and moisture to the dish.
  • 1 medium Onion Chopped finely for a sweet and savory base.
  • 1 medium Bell pepper Any color will do! Diced for added crunch and color.
  • 2 cloves Garlic Minced for a fragrant touch.
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika Gives a nice smoky flavor.
  • to taste Salt Enhances the overall flavor.

  • 1 cup Optional vegetables Consider adding peas, corn, or diced tomatoes for extra nutrition and flavor.

Instructions
 

  • Gather all your ingredients on the countertop to keep your kitchen organized.
  • Remove the casing from the sausage if using link sausage, then cut it into bite-sized pieces.
  • Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add the sausage. Cook until browned and cooked through, about 5 to 7 minutes.
  • Add the chopped onion and bell pepper to the skillet. Sauté for about 3 to 4 minutes until soft.
  • Stir in the minced garlic and paprika, cooking for another minute until fragrant.
  • Pour in the rice and stir to combine, allowing the rice to soak up the flavors.
  • Add the chicken broth, salt, and pepper. Mix well to ensure everything is evenly distributed.
  • Bring the mixture to a boil over high heat. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and cover the skillet with a lid.
  • Let it simmer for about 20 minutes, avoiding lifting the lid during cooking.
  • After 20 minutes, check the rice. If tender and liquid is absorbed, remove from heat and let sit for a few minutes.
  • Fluff the rice with a fork and serve hot, garnished with fresh herbs if desired.
